Who This Is For

Outgrown basic reporting

You have real revenue, books that are broadly reliable, and decisions ahead of you that are bigger than your current finance function can support.

No one setting direction

You have between one and a handful of people in finance and no one setting direction.

A big decision ahead

A raise, an acquisition, a pricing overhaul, an expansion, or an exit is coming, and you want finance leadership in the room.

The Problem

  • Cash keeps surprising you

Revenue looks healthy on paper while the bank balance still catches you off guard at the end of the month.

  • Three versions of the truth

Sales, operations, and accounting each hold a different version, and meetings turn into arguments about whose spreadsheet is right.

  • Numbers that have expired

Last month closes halfway through this month, so every decision runs on numbers that have already expired.

  • Investor questions with no answer

An investor asks for a model, and the forecast is a spreadsheet only one person understands.

Here is what changes.

    Before

Your shortfall becomes visible about a week before it becomes a problem, and finance is the thing that slows every decision down. The forecast breaks whenever an assumption changes.

A monthly review that ends in decisions

A review that closes on decisions rather than questions.

THE GROWTH SCORE

One scoreboard for you and your CFO.

Your monthly decision review starts from your Growth Score. Your CFO uses its fix list to set priorities, and its trend to show the board whether the plan is working.

  • What to fix next: ranked by how many points each change adds.

  • Lender-ready numbers: debt service coverage and debt-to-equity, always current.

  • Board-ready trend: six months of score history against your peers.

Included on the Growth plan and above.

How It Works

Getting started with our fractional CFO services follows the same five steps, whatever stage your finance function is at.

  1. 01

    Free consultation

We look at your books, your systems, and the decisions in front of you, and we tell you honestly whether you need a CFO yet or a stronger bookkeeping foundation first.

  2. 02

    Four week finance assessment

If you are not ready to commit to an ongoing engagement, start with a fixed scope review. You get a findings report, a prioritized action plan, and a ninety day roadmap, and you keep the deliverables either way.

  3. 03

    CFO match

We assign CFOs by industry fit, not by who happens to be free that month.

  4. 04

    First full cycle

Your first monthly close, reporting pack, and variance commentary run under our team, ending in a review meeting where the numbers get discussed rather than delivered.

  5. 05

    Ongoing leadership

A named CFO, a controller, and accountants working as one team, with hours reviewed as your situation changes rather than locked in for a year.

Pricing

Our fractional CFO services are quoted after a scoping call rather than published as a rate card, because two companies with the same revenue can differ by a factor of three in the work their finances need.

Feature
Monthly retainerOngoing leadership and a predictable budget line
Project workA raise, a sale, a model rebuild, or a systems migration
Interim coverageA vacant finance seat or a live transaction
How it is pricedFixed monthly fee set after a scoping callFixed scope and fixed feeScoped for a defined period
What it coversAn agreed scope of CFO work, from forecasting and cash to reporting and board supportA defined deliverable, ending when it is signed offFull time or near full time support while the seat is empty

What moves the price is how many hours a month the work needs, entity count, revenue streams, and systems in play, whether a fundraise, a transaction, or an audit falls inside the engagement, the state of the books on day one, and how quickly you need reporting to land.

Software We Work In

We work inside the software you already use rather than moving your books onto a platform of our own, including QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, NetSuite, Sage, Zoho Books, FreshBooks, Wave, and Odoo, with Bill.com and Ramp for receivables and payables. Fractional CFO Services, Explained

Our fractional CFO services fit companies that have outgrown basic reporting but are years away from justifying a full-time CFO.

These services are not the right starting point if your books are months behind. That is a bookkeeping problem before it is a CFO problem, and paying executive rates to clean up a ledger is the wrong order of operations. We will say so and start you in the right place. If you only need a few hours of finance help on an occasional basis, our Bookkeeper on Demand service is built for that instead.

Nobody goes looking for CFO consulting services because they feel ambitious. They go looking because of a pattern. Cash keeps surprising you, and revenue looks healthy on paper while the bank balance still catches you off guard at the end of the month. Sales, operations, and accounting each hold a different version of the truth, and meetings turn into arguments about whose spreadsheet is right. Last month closes halfway through this month, so every decision runs on numbers that have already expired.

Then something raises the stakes. An investor asks for a model, a unit economics story, or a data room, and you can produce a profit and loss statement but not a defensible answer. The forecast is a spreadsheet only one person understands, and it breaks whenever an assumption changes. Pricing has not been reviewed since launch, and nobody can say what gross margin is by product without rebuilding it from raw data. The founder ends up rebuilding the forecast at midnight instead of selling, hiring, or shipping.

The books may be perfectly accurate. The gap is that nobody is turning them into a plan, and a full-time CFO at two hundred and fifty thousand dollars or more is not a reasonable answer to that gap yet.

Over four weeks a Monily CFO works through your books, systems, cash cycle, and reporting, then hands you a findings report, a prioritized action plan with owners and effort estimates, and a ninety day roadmap. You keep the deliverables either way.

We assign CFOs by industry fit, not by who happens to be free that month. A software company with deferred revenue and a construction firm with retainage need different instincts.

Which stage you are at shapes where the first ninety days go. In Early Growth, the focus is a clean close, a thirteen week cash forecast, and a budget the team can be held to. In Scaling, it is margin by product and channel, pricing, working capital, and a KPI set leadership reviews monthly. In Capital Readiness, it is a defensible model, historicals that survive diligence, and a data room that does not stall the process. In Transformation, it is deal support, quality of earnings preparation, and interim leadership while a seat is empty.

Weeks one and two. Access is provisioned, we walk through the books with whoever currently owns them, and the assessment is completed, so you have a written picture of where finance stands before anyone proposes changes.

Weeks three and four. Priority items are worked through. The forecast is built or rebuilt, the cash view is stood up, and the reporting pack is designed around the decisions you actually make.

Month two. The first full monthly cycle under our team, with close, reporting pack, variance commentary, and a review meeting.

Month three. The rhythm repeats faster. Secondary roadmap items are cleared, the KPI set settles, and the leadership team starts working from one version of the numbers.

A full-time CFO is the right answer once the work fills the week. Until then, a fractional CFO gives you the right amount of leadership at the moment the decisions get expensive.

Every CFO is vetted before meeting a client. We verify credentials, including CPA licenses and tax practitioner qualifications, review their track record by company stage and industry, assess technical ability on real scenarios, check references, and supervise the first engagement. Monily is an IRS CAA, a QuickBooks Elite ProAdvisor, and an official NetSuite partner. Choosing a fractional CFO means choosing who is accountable for the numbers, and with Monily that is a named CFO you can call, not a ticket queue.

You are not renting one person. Every engagement runs as a small team, with a fractional CFO on strategy, a controller on close and accuracy, and accountants on the day to day work. Because all three sit inside Monily, nothing is lost in handoffs between vendors, and the numbers your CFO presents come from books our own team maintains. Hours flex up during a raise and back down once it closes.
